Every year “Oktoberfest”, one of the world's biggest food and drink festivals, puts its trust in dishwashing systems from Winterhalter Gastronom GmbH.
This year nearly 120 warewashers were kept working almost round the clock from 20 September to 5 October 2008.
Winterhalter is the market leader in warewashing, developing innovative technologies and providing complete systems solutions. So it's no surprise that about 90 percent of all commercial warewashers at the “Oktoberfest” were supplied by the company. The fair welcomed six million guests in 2008, a figure which puts the highest demands on catering operations. The food is served on porcelain, whilst thousands of traditional beer steins and other kinds of glasses are used. Regular checks by Food Inspection and the health authorities have become standard practice at the “Oktoberfest”.
Every third day, dishwashers, glasses and tableware are inspected using the adhesive-film test and daily HACCP reports are mandatory. As Jens Steck, head of international marketing, explains: "We welcome the increasing hygiene requirements and solve any problems with technical innovations. For example, we have developed a hygiene log for our multi-tank rack and flight dishwashers which automatically documents and archives all HACCP-relevant data. This is perfect for large-scale events like the Oktoberfest".
