Fairmont Singapore recently installed one unit of under-counter glass washer on every guest floor to ensure that all cups and glasses used in every guestroom are properly sanitized. Doing it the proper way, however poses new sets of challenges particularly to the hotel management and the housekeeping team.
Fairmont Singapore’s Director of Housekeeping Khazid Omar, Housekeeping Manager Alisa Ali and Supervisor Joy, while sharing the approach they used to implement the new procedure, mentioned that the most common dilemmas encountered include the issue of space constraint in the pantries and staffs’ lack of enthusiasm towards learning a new procedure or system of work. Remarkably, in spite of Fairmont Singapore’s two enormous towers and the huge quantity of glasses that require sanitization, the implementation exercise went quite smoothly. This may be attributed largely to the hotel’s well-trained housekeeping team and a management system efficiently in place.
In principle, soiled glasses and cups are collected from every room during turn over and are replaced immediately with already cleaned and sanitized items. Winterhalter – the warewasher manufacturer, whose Key-Account Manager in Singapore Ettore Palazzi was present, congratulated Fairmont Singapore for their success and expressed pleasure for the partnership before complimenting the professional installation job done by Q’son Kitchen Equipment.
